DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION (DEI)
Mission Statement for DEI:
Ridgewood, which is located twenty miles outside of New York City, continues to enlarge its racial and cultural composition. Given this fact, coupled with the national momentum to acknowledge the full diversity of experiences and perspectives from our country’s history, Travell Elementary and its school community, seeks to provide our students with the tools to succeed in an ever-changing world so as to empower them to become global citizens of the future.
As part of the HSA, the Travell Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee strives to work with the school's principal, staff, and administration to promote initiatives that celebrate differences in race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and physical/mental abilities. In addition, the DEI Committee aspires to provide resources and conversation starters to help parents facilitate open dialogue at home to further foster a collective understanding and to highlight the contributions of all individuals.
